Tenerife has an enormous accommodation range, especially around Costa Adeje. Gran Canaria’s Meloneras is particularly strong if you want a polished, walkable resort zone with large hotels, promenades and easy access to Maspalomas.
Beaches and scenery
Gran Canaria gives you Maspalomas dunes, southern beaches and surprisingly dramatic mountain roads inland. Tenerife combines resort beaches with the extraordinary volcanic scale of Teide and greener northern areas.
Which is better without a car?
Both can work without one if you stay in a strong resort base. A car becomes more valuable if you want the island to feel like a journey rather than a single resort.
